4/27 WIN 12-11 @ CVC
4/21 WIN 15-6 vs. Vista Del Lago
4/20 WIN 18-0 vs. Alhambra
4/17 WIN 9-8 @ Bishop O’Dowd
4/14 WIN 17-2 @ Granada
After a slow start and some close losses, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team finally started to show some life in April. It started with a 17-2 win over Granada on the 14th, followed by a great last minute 9-8 victory on the road against longtime nemesis Bishop O’Dowd on the 17th. The win over Bishop was the first in recent memory.
Alhambra came to CP on the 20th for senior night and our seniors went all out, scoring 11 goals, led by Connor Beasley with 6, to win 18-0. Vista Del Lago came down from the Folsom area on the 21st where our seniors carried over from the night before, scoring 10 goals, in a 15-6 victory, highlighted by Jake Eide scoring 5 and adding 2 assists.
The final league game of the season had the boys visiting longtime rival, Clayton Valley on the 27th. A victory by CP would create a 3 way tie for 3rd in the final DAL standings with Northgate and Clayton Valley. With CV coming in with a 11-4 overall record and CP with a 7-9 record our chances didn’t look good on paper. But games are not played on paper and after an extremely physical and intense contest, CV scored with 30 seconds left in the game to force overtime. The crowd was electric and Clayton Valley had the first 2 shots in overtime. After a save by goalie Ian MacAskill, Max Horning cleared the ball over the mid line and dished off to Jake Eide. With all the defenders watching Jake closely because of his 3 earlier goals, Riley Ledin got behind them and was in perfect position to take the sidearm pass from Jake and score the winning goal, capping off the most exciting and rewarding game this year. See a short video of the winning goal and the celebration:HERE.
Although they lost the 3 way tie-breaker and missed the DAL playoffs, it is nice to end on a high note and have good memories to carry you through to next season. We play a game with Las Lomas tomorrow night hoping to get enough wins to qualify for NCS. Good luck to all the seniors with the next chapter in their lives.
